Climate change affects us all. And the impact of climate change is going to become more and more severe, with increasingly damaging consequences. The good news is we can do something about it. The bad news is time is running out – we have to act now.
Climate change does not respect boundaries or borders and we need to work together if we are going to keep rising global temperatures in check.
As individuals, there are many things we can do to reduce our contribution to climate change – from changing our light-bulbs to reducing our air travel. Many of us are already taking action.
Together we can set an example to our government and show that we want to play our part in tackling climate change.
Because whatever we do as individuals, the government can multiply it. Cleaner energy – the government can make it law. Efficient and affordable public transport – the government can invest in it. Sharing clean technology with the world’s poorest countries – the government ensure it happens.
The Be The Change campaign aims to encourage people like you to take action on climate change and to make those actions even more effective by inspiring others to take action and demonstrating to political leaders that New Zealanders care about climate change.
The more of us that join together to Be The Change -our friends, our families, our schools, our community groups, our churches and other non-governmental organisations – the bigger the impact we’ll have.
Being a part of ‘Be The Change’ is easy and can be part of our everyday lives. The first step is to register and be counted as someone who has joined the fight against climate change.
Once you have registered, you can pledge to take different actions, you can share your ideas and comment or vote on other people’s ideas. We will also keep you updated about news and events from around the country.
